iPhone Music Quiz apps

June 18th, 2009

With the new Media Player framework on Apples new iPhone OS 3.0 software, I had a feeling there were going to be a large number of Music Quiz apps that mimicked the old iPod game, where music plays, and you must select the correct song within a time limit. Here is a gist of the three Music Quiz apps currently in the app store. The three currently in the App Store are: MusicApp, Tunes Quiz and musIQ

MusicApp

MusicApp’s biggest feature that separates it from rest is its multiplayer mode. It can connect over bluetooth or WiFi and play with up to 16 players. The only problem is that WiFi needs a Mac OS X Leopard computer to play, so if you are in a no WiFi zone, or without a mac, bluetooth is the best you can do. MusicApp looks nice, better than Tunes Quiz, but not as good as musIQ when it comes to graphics. It is the only one with a difficulty setting, so if single player is too easy, you can crank up the difficulty raiting. It is the cheapest out of them all at $.99

Tunes Quiz

Tunes quiz is the most simple out of the three, it uses almost all pre-built apple components, so it isn’t too graphically pleasing. The best part about Tunes Quiz is that it lets you decide wether you want to choose by artist, album, or song. Tunes Quiz is $2.99, so it is a little pricey

MusIQ

MusIQ is beautiful to look at, and has all the features you need, I would say it is a tie between this one and MusicApp if not for multiplayer in MusicApp. If you want a fun single player experience, you might consider this game. However, it is the most expensive at $3.99
