Cerebro open beta
Apple’s Mobile Feature called Find my iPhone has been available since the 3.0 launch, the only problem is that 99 dollars a year is a hefty price to pay for a service that you hopefully never have to use. Today I am releasing CALocationService, an application that records your GPS coordinates, live track your iPhone, and much more. Due to Apple’s App Store restrictions, this app will only available via cydia.
To get started, open Cydia, navigate to “Manage->Sources” and add this source to your repository
http://chrisalvares.com/apt
Then click on the chrisalvares.com repository and install Cerebro.
You might have to respring after you install CALocationService to see the icon.
Open the app and follow the instructions.
[update] Changed name from CALocationService to Cerebro.

Sweet app, came up with my GPS location right away, sonar worked immediately, a few PHP errors popping up on the website here and there, but no big deal.
Cylay also has a feature which prevents the user from turning off the phone once it is reported stolen, this would be a great feature to add. Perhaps even a power-off password. Another great feature would be a power-on password, I would hate to have to enter a password every single time I check my phone at the lock screen, but wouldn’t mind having to enter one only after shutdowns or reboots.
I imagine more often than not when stolen, the thief probably does not have an iphone charger on-hand, and may take several days to get one or sell it, meaning the battery will go dead, and this is where a power on password would be great… perhaps inputting more than 2 or 3 incorrect power on passwords would automatically activate the theft mode.
Cylay also has a remote wipe feature, which would be great considering somebody just jacked my 3gs with naked pics of the g/f on it (doh!) Unfortunately I didn’t have Cylay, or mobileme, or cerebro on it so I’m just screwed.
This app just doesn’t work well enough. It’s got an 1150meter accuracy. You might as well be looking for a needle in a haystack. And the updates just don’t work. Nice though but it’s just not ready for prime time. Maybe move this back into beta or something…
I just downloaded the upgrade to 1.1 from Cydia, will this help reducing battery consumption or what else can I do, otherwise altough I like the app I will like to delete complete from my phone, can you tell me how?
any update on this?
@Thomas
It hard on the battery at least on the 3Gs!
I think iLocalis is way better than this…
@Norberto cydia > cerebro > uninstall
thanx for the great effort,,,, your doing well
Hi
I received the following message when installing the application:
“Note: You can not activate:Live Updates, Sonar, and Send Message from the Cerebro iPhone application if you Cerebro username is linked to that iPhone”
I changed my iphone for a new one, and I had this app on the former one, this has any implication?
What I can do?
I am looking for my iphone, need help!
This doesnt work. I have a 3gs and it doesnt work at all.
@Pablo Bastidas
I have the same thing in mine when I log in. Also I didnt see the app in the source, I found it in cydia through BigBoss. Things arent working right at all on my 3gs 3.3.1
