Cerebro Update

Cool things will be happening to Cerebro in the next couple of days, and I would like to show you some of them today.
iPhone Mobile Site
It came to my attention that if you ever lose your iPhone, and are trying to track it down, you probably wont bring your laptop with you, so I have created an iPhone Mobile site found at http://chrisalvares.com/Cerebro/m. This is also available via the Cerebro iPhone application.

Battery Life Indicator
You can now check your battery life of your iPhone via the detailed view page.

The Cerebro Snow Leopard App
Soon, you will be able to track your Macbook or Macbook pro running Snow Leopard. The cool part about this is that the code used for the Snow Leopard App will be almost identical to the code on the iPhone app. They both will use CoreLocation, and a Unix daemon. We are code naming this Snowebro, and it is at an early stage, with a public beta coming soon.

Hi Chris,
In the Cerebro options i’ve noticed the ‘URL of Options Download’ option and I would like my iphone to fetch the settings from my own server. I’ve checked your FAQs but i can’t seem to find how options should be served. (XML, text file).
Thanks!
Hi Tim, I have updated the privacy policy on how to do this. http://chrisalvares.com/Cerebro/admin/note.php
Thanks,
Chris.
Hi Chris.
I’ve got Cerebo sending updates and pulling down options from my server. I am wondering if there is any way to change the frequency that the daemon checks/pulls down the options.
Thanks,
Ross
Ross, as of right now, pressing the “Save” button on the options page is the only way to update the options, look for future releases for a better implementation.

hey, just an fyi.. typo in the Cerebro Mobile link “http://chrisalvares.cm/Cerebro/m” (visually its fine, but the source has a typo in “com”)…
And on another note, is this new version on the repo?
thanks
Chris, have you thought about adding the ability to send the info to Google Latitude? If you aren’t very interested I certainly am and I’m willing to do most of the work. Let me know
Hi Chris,
I really like what you’ve done. Looks and works great, except at this moment Sonar doesn’t seem to do anything and an error is being returned when you try to send a message to the phone..
Thought I’d let you know..
Thanks!
Trying to get things up and running but I cannot find a registration link frim my iPhone.
Would ve good to place a registration button on the mobile login page.
Hi Chris,
You probably did this way for some reason, but I noticed the following:
GPS information may be useful to locate the iPhone but it is not always available, uses iPhone battery and needs time to be collected.
On the other hand, the basic iPhone application called “Maps” shows you in a second your position in a very accurate way (even inside the buildings). It maybe matches GPS with GSM information or so.
Why not to use the same information on your app? Doing so the Push Update probably could take 10 seconds instead.
Thanks for your application anyway.
Yea me too, struggling to see the point of this app now! I’ve looked everywhere on the site, blog and google and see nowhere to register.
